Updating BIOS for Gigabyte B450 AORUS Elite V2
Hello everyone, I began assembling a PC for a friend's computer yesterday, but realized it wouldn’t work properly. The issue is that I paired a Gigabyte B450 AORUS Elite V2 with a Ryzen 7 5800x, and the BIOS isn’t current for the newer chip. The seller who sold me everything will allow me to send back the motherboard so they can update the BIOS for free, but there’s also a chance they might offer a loaner AMD processor through their Loan Boot Kit. I have my own machine with a Ryzen 7 3700x and should be able to handle the BIOS update myself. However, doing it would mean removing the processor from my current setup, which could cause complications. Appreciate any advice or suggestions!
Change the thermal paste because the cooler is removed. Otherwise, everything looks fine.
It sounds like this is your first time removing a CPU. After you unscrew the cooler, gently rotate it slightly clockwise and counterclockwise, until you feel it loosen, before lifting it off. If you just lift it straight away, there's a high likelihood that you'll take the CPU with it, ripping it out of the socket. That can damage your CPU and/or mobo irreparably.
Thanks for your feedback. I successfully resolved the issue yesterday and both computers are now operating smoothly.
