I experienced an issue with a 2.5" SSD that wasn’t used for booting but was part of the system. The problem was clear—something was seriously wrong during the rebuild. It turned out the drive failed completely, making it impossible to read data even with a hardware cloner. Do you have another drive you’d like to try installing Windows on and booting from?
I mentioned purchasing a new M.2 SSD, but I mistakenly installed it in the incorrect port because I assumed both slots supported SATA. After resolving previous issues, I disconnected power for about 10 to 20 minutes and it functioned again—until I placed the SSD in the correct location, at which point it returned to VGA mode. Is there a chance the motherboard is having problems with any connected drive, or did inserting it incorrectly damage the SSD? Also, note that it only powers back up after being turned off briefly; could this indicate a faulty PSU?
It looks like the issue isn't with the SSD itself, but rather with the power supply unit. Even after installation, the system still faces VGA problems. It might be worth checking the PSU before assuming the hard drive is the cause.
