Device has operated smoothly for about two and a half to three years. It comes with an Asus TUF B550M Plus Wi-Fi board, an RTX 3070 FE, a Ryzen 5 3600X, and 32GB of dual RAM (which was also replaced during troubleshooting). Microcenter offered the 7TS580X at a discount, so I purchased one. Upon returning home, I verified my BIOS was current and compatible with the 5800X model recommended by the site. After installing the new CPU, the PSU switched on and the motherboard LED lit up normally. Pressing the power button had no effect—no fans or video output. Reinstalling the 3600X produced the same issue. I attempted a BIOS reset on the motherboard, which displayed a steady green light for ten minutes before stopping.
Disconnect the CMOS battery for five minutes or remove the cooler while verifying the CPU placement. Ensure RAM is in slots A2 and B2. Also, power down the PSU.
Check if everything is connected correctly. I’ve had similar issues before. Make sure the CPU connections are intact.
Removing the CMOS battery while the cooler remains off is the only step I haven’t attempted before, especially when the cooler was still running. I’ve double-checked the CPU and RAM, and all pins on the CPU are still straight and intact. There was a brief moment of reinstalling 3600 to let it stabilize, so I decided to try the same process with the 5800X now. Currently, I’m experiencing only a color shimmer without any video output or fan noise.
Removing CMOS when the cooler is off doesn't matter much, since you could have done it while also removing the CPU. Your board supports BIOS flashback. Install BIOS version 1004 (the first to support 5800X) and format a USB drive as FAT32. Insert the BIOS onto the drive, rename it to TG550MPW.CAP, and follow the instructions provided. Reinstalled the 3600x update again by downloading it from another machine to my USB drive. Attempted to use bios flashback on the motherboard's back with the USB connected to the BIOS slot. Pressing the button makes the USB light up, and the BIOS restarts for a few minutes before shutting down. Still, the issue remains—only the LED on the motherboard changes color, but no fan starts and it doesn’t boot.
