I recently changed from an Athlon 200GE to a Ryzen 5 5500GT on my Gigabyte A320M-S2H V2 motherboard. I also replaced the computer case during this process. Before installing the new CPU, I updated the BIOS from F55b to F56 and then reset it using Optimized Defaults. After turning on the system, I observed an odd problem: the rear USB 3.0 ports are receiving power (they can power my speaker), yet they fail to detect any devices—no keyboard, mouse, or headset works. On the other hand, the USB 2.0 ports function correctly, and even the front panel USB 3.0 port operates normally. To investigate further, I performed a complete OS reinstall, installed the latest AMD chipset drivers, and checked the BIOS settings (Legacy USB, disabling then re-enabling IOMMU, Device Manager USB Drivers). However, the issue remains unresolved. Have others experienced similar problems with Ryzen 5000 APUs on A320 boards? Any suggestions for restoring full USB 3.0 functionality on the rear I/O? Right now, I’m only using the rear USB 3.0 ports without any other issues.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
You should've thought about changing the motherboard out to something with a better VRM design as the A320 chipset board you have has a lackluster VRM, to add, the 5000 series of Ryzen processors drew more power than the 1000 and 2000 series processor and would tax the VRM accordingly.
I updated the BIOS from
F55b to F56
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-...support#dl
The latest version is 57g, see if flashing to that BIOS version helps alleviate the issue. Once you've verified your BIOS is on the latest version, disconnect from the wall and display, remove the CMOS battery, press and hold down the power button for 30secs to drain any residual power and then reseat the CMOS battery after 30mins.
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model.

Thank you very much for your feedback! I’ll try implementing your ideas. I plan to update the BIOS and reinsert the CMOS battery. Although I’d prefer to swap the motherboard immediately, my budget constraints mean I’m focusing on other upgrades first. My strategy is to install a GPU next, then move to a B550M board later when finances permit. I also intend to replace my RAM. Here are my current details:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5500GT
CPU cooler: Wraith Stealth
Motherboard: Gigabyte A320M-S2H-V2
RAM: ADATA 8x2GB DDR4 2666Mhz
Storage:
- SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 250GB
- HDD: WD 500GB 2.5"
GPU: Vega 7 (iGPU)
Power supply: Thermaltake Smart RGB 500W 80+ White (2018)
Chassis: YGT N195
Operating system: Windows 10 Pro
Monitor: Viewplus 19" LED (Local)

Did you confirm the problem across various ports using distinct cables?

I intend to install the GPU next,
+
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart RGB 500W 80+ White (2018)
Not using that power supply in the build. That's a terrible choice.

I checked all four USB 3.0 ports on both the back and front panel 3.0 port. I used two different keyboards and mice (including my older ones), as well as a webcam, phone, and flash drive. None of these devices were recognized. But when I connected a USB-powered ring light, it worked—indicating the ports do provide power, though they aren't reading any data.

I’ve already completed all those steps recently. I upgraded to BIOS version F57G, unplugged the PC from the wall and display, removed the CMOS battery, pressed the power button for 30 seconds to drain any remaining power, and then reinserted the CMOS battery after 30 minutes. Despite these actions, the problem continues.

I know my existing power supply isn’t great—it’s definitely something I want to upgrade after finishing the rest of the build. Right now, I’m not planning to run anything that requires a lot of power. I’m weighing between an RX 6600 and the RX 580 2048SP, since the latter is quite budget-friendly here. I’m still leaning toward the RX 6600 once I have enough funds.
