Hello, I just purchased a 9800X3D and was curious about whether this performance is typical, normal, or at least something I could safely overlook. I usually experience good temperatures during regular gaming sessions—even with MSFS 2024 on maximum settings in an intense city mode, the temps stay in the 60s to 70s Celsius—but when there are shader compilations or loading screens, the temperatures rise into the 90s.

What cooling solution are you using? What is the model and specifications of your case? Provide details about the fan types, their positions, and the current room temperature. If you're using an ASRock board, ensure you're running the most recent BIOS update for that specific brand.

It seems fine for the stock model 9800x3d. Shader compilation can definitely push the chip to over 90°C. I've even witnessed a 95°C rise during Hogwarts Legacy shader setup, and I own one of the top AIO coolers. For CPU-heavy titles, a low 60°C is typical, though I haven't seen it go up to 70 during play—probably depends on the cooler. The chip stays cool while gaming because of its speed and extra cache, which helps reduce load. If you wish to lower the temperature without sacrificing performance, you can adjust a -10 or -15 offset in the curve optimizer settings. This has significantly reduced my temps, even after overclocking with a +100 MHz PBO boost, and I rarely see 60°C in games; some reach as low as 50.

I recorded 55 during the gameplay, but I'm uncertain about the 70.
