I mistakenly installed my CPU without updating the BIOS, which I noticed because it didn’t show up. I updated the BIOS to version 7B89v1I2 to ensure compatibility with my B450M mortar motherboard. After that, I tried posting again and it worked but displayed error code 0xc000000e while attempting to boot into Windows 10. I attempted to use a flash drive with Windows 10 for repair or reinstallation, but it didn’t help. Anyone have suggestions on how to get Windows to boot? I also tried reinserting my old CPU, which produced the same error. My system specs are: 5800X, B450M mortar, EVGA 650G3 power supply, DDR4 3200MHz, 16GB RAM, RX56 GPU.
That’s a hardware failure boot. It happens when the system notices a mismatch between the hardware ID and what it expects. First, try opening the BIOS. You can launch the Automatic repair utility if you have a Windows 10 bootable USB drive; otherwise, create one. This should resolve most issues. If not, you’ll need to follow more complex steps.

BIOS update probably needed. It might resolve the issue. Not every board supports the update and compatibility. This seems to be an MSI product, and in a nutshell, MSI was trying to force a football while I was upgrading to a 5900X. They said the update would only work if I bought the new chip first. Eventually, I went with an Asus board to avoid damaging my existing setup. Personally, I wouldn't use Zen3 on a B450 unless for testing. Updated August 11, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more info
I just checked the latest BIOS update available on the official MSI website. Since I can't afford a new motherboard right now, I'm trying to locate ways to install the CPU on my current MMO. The reflashing didn't help and the problem persists. Do you know any BIOS updates that have worked before?
Unfortunately, the situation with MSI has left me disappointed. Their handling of my 5900X upgrade and BIOS, along with their indecision about compatibility, plus some unprofessional support staff, have made me hesitant about their products. I haven’t had a positive experience yet.
I tried using a flash drive with Windows installation media, but I'm stuck. The error when trying to download it onto my SSD or hard drive is "we couldn't create a new partition or locate." Anyone have a solution that doesn’t require wiping the drives?
