Opened multiple Chrome tabs on tradestation and thinkorswim, streaming YouTube simultaneously. My i7 5820k is overheating and struggling with the workload.

My recall speed is about a 3950, which is roughly similar to a 9900k stock in single-threaded frames per second. However, when it comes to multithread performance, a 9900k at 5.3 OC can’t even match a 3950. It really depends on your processing skills, the chip design, and what you're trying to achieve.

If you OC well, AND You have single thread workloads (older apps) you might be able to get +5-10% extra out of intel. If you can’t or aren’t it’s basically even. I should note that I’m the person discussing threadripper, mainly since I’m unfamiliar with your specific scenario. Threadripper tends to perform better in multi-threaded environments but may lag in single-threaded situations, especially when you have a lot of memory available.
