Hey, everyone. I recently bought my brother a brand new PC for his birthday. All the components listed are brand new except for the GPU. Last night was the moment to reveal the upgrades, and he was thrilled. We assembled everything and the process went smoothly.
We reached the stage of connecting the computer to a power source, inserted a Windows 10 bootable USB into one of the USB ports on top of the case, and turned it on. The MSI logo appeared and the system started booting, which was exciting. But shortly after the logo showed with the loading spinner, it froze. We assumed it was just a temporary issue, but it persisted. After some waiting, we reset the machine. The same occurred—MSI logo appeared briefly before freezing again. We tried connecting the USB to one of the USB 3.0 ports on the back panel, but it didn’t help.
To attempt a fix, we used an empty USB stick we found (though it was about ten years old). We formatted it and installed Windows 10. Booting my PC from the fresh USB worked perfectly. We then transferred the stick to the new build, which started up normally except that the MSI logo appeared briefly before freezing like the previous bootable drive. We reset the computer several times in frustration, but nothing resolved the problem.
Next, we obtained another empty USB stick from a friend’s car. We loaded a BIOS download onto it and entered the BIOS settings on the new machine. The Windows 10 setup screen appeared correctly. We then connected the stick to another USB port, and this time the setup process completed successfully, displaying the full Windows interface. However, the keyboard and mouse stopped working, along with some peripherals.
After exploring the BIOS, we checked the "Board Explorer" feature (and also the Hardware Monitor) and confirmed that all components were connected. We even tried booting from his old HDD, which resulted in the same freezing issue. At one point, we noticed the GPU was unusually hot, so we removed it and connected the HDMI directly to the motherboard instead of the GPU. Unfortunately, no video output appeared when using either HDMI or DVI cables.
It’s quite puzzling and frustrating. I’m not sure what’s causing this problem, as I’ve never encountered something like this before, even though I’ve built computers multiple times. Do anyone have suggestions or troubleshooting steps? Am I missing something, or is this a hardware fault? I was really looking forward to getting everything up and running for his birthday because he needed an upgrade for a long time.
You cannot connect your monitor directly to the motherboard because the Ryzen 5 3600 lacks a built-in graphics card.
Have you attempted to reset the CMOS?
Have you tried using just one stick of RAM in the second DIMM slot? Test with one stick, then switch to the other.

Sure, I'll make sure to keep the same length and structure while changing the wording. Let me know if you need anything else!
