Updated motherboard and processor installed, but experiencing blue screen issues.
I recently upgraded and assembled a PC with these specifications: Nvidia RTX 2070, Intel 9700K, Western Digital Blue 2TB hard drive, Toshiba 1TB hard drive, PNY 256GB SSD, Sandisk 256GB SSD, Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz, and a Corsair H60 liquid cooler. The CPU voltages are set to Auto, drivers are current, and I performed a fresh Windows installation. Within two days of setup, I encountered my first blue screen. The Reliability Monitor reported: “Problem Event Name: BlueScreen Code: 124” with parameters ffff830853d17028, b2000000, and OS version 10_0_18362. After flashing the BIOS, the issue disappeared. Eleven days later, I experienced a second blue screen, and the Monitor showed: “Problem Event Name: BlueScreen Code: 9c” with no parameters and an OS version of 10_0_18363. I haven’t attempted any fixes yet. My roommate has the same motherboard and processor but still faces these screens, even when idle or under load. We suspect a hardware issue but aren’t sure if it’s the motherboard and are hesitant to replace it. Thank you for any advice you can provide.”
Which motherboard are we talking about? Maybe I'm missing something—it's likely the motherboard. It's a bit unfortunate that you and your friend damaged the CPU. Try running benchmarks to check if performance drops under load versus idle.
