Updated motherboard and encountered FTPM error
Updated motherboard and encountered FTPM error
Hello. I encountered issues with the motherboard and had to get a replacement from a distributor. I’m not sure if Bitlocker or fTPM was enabled. My SSD drive was encrypted using VeraCrypt, which doesn’t keep the encryption key in fTPM according to what I recall. When I powered on the system, this error appeared. The image shown isn’t mine, but the error remains consistent. While searching online, I noticed some users reported the PC shutting down unexpectedly without any hardware changes. I read that someone might have seen a message pop up randomly, even though no modifications were made. I’m wondering if the replacement unit was previously tested and they enabled fTPM on the motherboard to support Windows 11. They also tried various CPUs, likely updating firmware. If they did update, could fTPM be set as the default? I understand fTPM is meant to secure both software and hardware. I considered changing BIOS settings to disable fTPM, but there’s a risk it might lock the system or brick the hardware. Could the motherboard become locked to the CPU they tested? What should I do next? Thanks.
It's not a major issue that could cause problems. The fTPM key used by Windows 11 is typically handled automatically, so resetting it won't lead to any significant issues.
It links the CPU with the motherboard, which means updates often require resetting this connection. Most BIOS versions since Windows 11 were designed to keep it active by default because it’s necessary.
I don't really understand. They just mentioned replacement. I got it in the original box that I sent to a distributor. There was nothing else inside except the motherboard. The serial number on the box and the board are now different. So it probably isn't new? I've changed and added specifications.
