My Acer Helios Predator 300 recently just died. I've had it for 5 years or so. Any recommendations on a laptop for "some" gaming and one with good CPU for stock market app processing?
Never had a problem with gaming on that Acer besides the 256GB SSD. I'd like to have a 512 this time. Here was the spec's on it.
15.6" Full HD IPS, Intel i7 CPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, GeForce GTX 1060-6GB, VR Ready, Red Backlit KB, Metal Chassis, Windows 10 64-bit
I gamed on it but nothing extreme (Far Cry 6 recently) so I'd like for it to be able to at least handle gaming but I'm not hardcore. The acer I had, being 5 years old still handled the games I play with no problem. Stock trading app I mainly use is Webull and it didn't do a horrible job at keeping up with that (feels laggy every now and again)
Budget would be around 800 - 1200 and anywhere that offers a payment plan.
Never been steered wrong coming here for suggestions (loved the Helios Predator when it was suggested) so I thought I'd try again.

I would anticipate it would work well for your intended use, particularly if your other laptop met expectations. Considering I'm five years old, I think you likely had an i7 7700HQ. If that's the case, the i7 11800H offers a major boost in single-threaded speed and is more than double...

I wasn't aware the Helios 300 model is still being updated. Who can confirm it meets my requirements?
Current price is $1189 with a payment plan of $100 per month for 12 months.

If that's the case, the i7 11800H offers a major boost in single-threaded speed and more than double the multi-threaded performance. You might want to consider replacing the SSD with a 2TB model later when there are discounts available, since 512GB isn't very efficient these days. If you notice any slowdowns with your current application on the new laptop, it could be due to insufficient RAM.
