Updated from Windows 10 – laptop shakes when powering off or putting it to sleep
Hi,
I have a HP 15-dy1xxx laptop and when the Windows 11 upgrade was available, I installed it. Since then, the device often flickers when returned from sleep or hibernation. It doesn't happen in other cases:
1. After a fresh restart
2. When using the touchscreen
3. When no context elements appear on the screen as the mouse moves (like a hyperlink or tooltip)
I attempted to perform Windows updates, but HP doesn't provide any on their site and it appears this model isn't supported for Windows 11 (I found out recently).
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the display drivers, but it didn't help.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Please verify if your laptop has any pending BIOS updates.
I own a HP 15-dy1xxx and installed the Windows 11 upgrade when it was offered.
You’ll need to create a USB installer for Windows 11, then reinstall the OS offline using that installer.
After that, manually install all necessary drivers through an elevated command prompt—right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator.
However, to be honest:
I attempted similar steps for Windows updates, but HP doesn’t list any updates on their site. It turns out this laptop isn’t compatible with Windows 11 (I found out recently).
Be careful—if the device isn’t supported, skip this path and avoid trying the newer OS.
