I'm working on assembling a budget graphics card for a family member and decided to use some leftover components. I chose a Ryzen 3 2200G that I still have, along with its original cooler and thermal paste. For the motherboard, I picked a Gigabyte a320m-s2h, which I bought without testing it at first. I’m unsure if this setup will support the 2200G right out of the box. There’s a label on the case indicating it’s compatible with Ryzen 2000, but I’ve seen others report issues even with that label when using a 2600. I also learned that the 2200G is actually a Zen 1 chip, so it should work with any older board without needing a BIOS update. Any advice would be appreciated.
The second wave of Ryzen chips runs on identical BIOS releases. A Ryzen 5 2600 functions properly without an update.
