I’m considering two choices: 1) Ryzen 5 3600 with a budget model Gigabyte B450M S2H ULTRA (affordable option) or 2) Ryzen 5 2600x paired with an MSI B450M MORTAR MAX (improved version). My budget is fixed, and I’ll purchase only the motherboard and processor. If needed, I must adjust within these two components. Should I pick the cheaper board or opt for a higher-end processor?

Both models offer a maximum turbo speed of 4.2 Ghz. There’s no significant performance gap. I’d pick the M.S.I. motherboard with the 2600x since it ranks among the top B450 models for VRM efficiency and also includes four memory slots for future upgrades.
