Updated Classic Titles for PC Platform
I'm curious about whether any updated versions of those classic titles are now available for PC download. I still have them on their original consoles, but I'd like to organize my collection and play them in better quality. If you're aware of any other highly-regarded older games that have been remastered for PC, I'd appreciate hearing about them. Thanks for your assistance!
They aren't available on PC since they belong to Sony and Nintendo and are restricted. You might be able to play older N64 and PS1/PS2 titles using an emulator, but not later systems like the PS3 or beyond because no compatible ones exist
This setup would enable them to enjoy higher resolution, better textures, and superior quality compared to the previous console. Your system specifications include a powerful Intel processor, dedicated GPU, ample RAM, fast storage options, and a reliable cooling solution.
It wouldn't be accurate to describe it as that gray unless we're discussing the ethical implications. Emulators can behave oddly when things are optimal, so expect a lot of time adjusting settings just to make the game functional and even polished.
I possess the disc and cartridges intact (laughs, I haven't mentioned 'cartridge' for a long time) so I don’t feel any ethical issue using them in another format. It’s purely personal and I won’t be profiting from it. Just seeking a fresh project, thanks everyone!
Well if the TS owns the games and the consoles there’s nothing to worry about. For the PS2 you’ll need the ISO from the DVD and a PS2 BIOS from your own console. Sony supports emulators but can’t provide BIOS files—you must get them from your device. The same applies to the PS1, where without a BIOS it’s not enjoyable. For the N64 I’m not sure if anything is required, though I know Nintendo can be quite strict. If you find one that isn’t taken, it should work fine.
It's a tricky situation on the forum because it might be seen as piracy or similar issues, and we shouldn't dive into that. Proceed with caution when talking about it—there are no moral concerns here, and it isn't about the company losing money on discontinued items. Still, legality and community rules differ from personal beliefs.
