I assembled a new PC yesterday using several components: 7950x, ice giant prosiphon cooler, 32GB DDR5-6000 ripjaw, 990 Pro (firmware included), Zotac 4080 trinity, silverstone Hela 850R platinum power supply, fractal torrent case, and a W11 home build. I completed the setup today. I'm encountering several problems and am unsure what might be causing them. The CPU runs at around 55°C; mild tasks like installing hwinfo64 raise it to about 70°C. If any core is hit fully, temperatures exceed 90°C within a second. Full-core hits trigger freezing during benchmark tests (hwinfo64 reports peak temps of 96/97/98/99/100°C). The system reboots excessively during Windows installation—even after entering one-time use code via my MS account. After booting, the machine feels both responsive and unresponsive; mouse movements work but nothing else. Task menu actions yield no effect, and commands like Ctrl+Alt+Del or Win+R do nothing. The event viewer shows no critical errors. Reinstalling Windows resolved the issue. It might be related to BIOS secure boot being disabled before the first install. During Windows setup, the display flipped (black on white), possibly due to CPU placement or cooler seating issues. The cooler may not be fitting properly for the 7950x, or it could be incompatible. I noticed a black screen photo during the second install. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I notice the CPU running hot with a large cooling solution. It makes me think about how the mounting might affect it. The traditional approach is to avoid removing the protective plastic from the cold plate. Siphon coolers are also affected by gravity, which means they can be installed incorrectly if not set up properly. The instructions should clarify this.

I removed the film from the base plate and followed the manual’s guidance on placing radiators above the CPU, considering gravity. I’m confident everything is set right unless there’s an issue with the CPU contact. I had to take it off again and reapply thermal paste, which worked well the first time and stayed consistent the second time.

There are numerous factors that might lead to this issue, some of which are hard to manage. This was merely an illustration.
