For some reason, Google's backup and sync isn't functioning properly on my 2017 MacBook Pro. Every time I try to open it, an error appears: "My question is this." I understand that in the iCloud settings I can choose to use the iCloud drive for storing files on my desktop, and it keeps syncing. Is there another method to back up folders and files to the desktop? And ideally, it should always stay synchronized. I just want to feel more secure with my files and don't rely solely on iCloud since I've noticed issues with others.

Does Dropbox really keep data in sync? Or must you re-upload everything whenever you make changes? Searching for a backup and it fails completely. Reinstalled countless times, talked to Apple support who said it’s not a macOS issue. There are many complaints on the official forum about the new backup system, and it doesn’t work properly. My problem hasn’t received any updates from their team after the first month.

Back then it worked, though it's been nearly four years since then.

I'll attempt these options. Thanks! Also, I'm already using a time machine for periodic backups. "Just want to be certain everything is saved."
