You’ve already installed Windows 10 and are trying to fix a login issue. It’s possible to update your local username without reinstalling—just check your account settings in the Control Panel or Settings app and adjust the name accordingly.

Control Panel next User Accounts; then User accounts again: Once more modify account name. Input your new account name. EDIT: Realised you must alter the folder name. This approach seems ineffective. Edited July 10, 2021 by RockSolid1106 This technique doesn't update the home directory

You don’t have this choice. Your account is linked to Microsoft, not your local device, and you’re having trouble adjusting the local settings.

For the account you mentioned and the documentation on renaming user accounts, these resources should be useful.

These steps seem to be for a Local account, not a Microsoft Account. The OP is having trouble with a Microsoft one.

I wasn't able to modify the actual username because it's tied to a Microsoft account. However, using this link along with another admin account allowed me to update the folder name. On the login page, your real name appears instead of your local user name, which is what caught my attention.
