Update Windows now.
Turning off Windows Update might seem straightforward, but it could affect your system. It may not pose immediate risks, but disabling it could leave your PC vulnerable to updates and security patches. Consider the implications before proceeding.
You might want to turn it off to prevent unnecessary usage or to conserve energy.
It’s the optimal solution. Windows will notify you about updates, giving you time to decide what and when to apply.
Due to an unexpected change, after the latest update, the Windows Update runs via "Windows Modules Installer Worker" consuming around 10% CPU even when idle. It persists unless the PC is put into hibernation. I've attempted various fixes but haven't succeeded. My only alternative is a factory reset/reinstall, though I prefer not to do that. Turning off Windows Update stops this process from using CPU resources.
