I aim to switch your laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, but I’m unsure how to handle chipset drivers since the website only lists them for Windows 8.1. The touchpad drivers aren’t a priority, but you need functionality to use it as a regular PC with a TV connection. Thanks for your patience.

Windows 10 comes with many built-in drivers. Unless your system is extremely unusual, you should be okay just installing Windows 10 and updating it. It should install all the drivers automatically.

Sure, I can help with that. Installing Windows 7 requires specific steps and considerations. Would you like a detailed guide on the process?

From what I understand, Windows 7 tends to load drivers less automatically, which means you might need to install them yourself. It's been quite some time since I last used that version. Also, with the support ending in January 2020, it wouldn't be advisable to switch back to Windows 7 at this point.

You can usually get Windows 8.1 drivers for Windows 10. I usually install them myself because I don’t always trust Windows 10 to update drivers properly. Sometimes it installs graphics drivers that are several major versions outdated. For Windows 7, make sure your laptop is compatible before trying to install. Install a reliable antivirus like Bitdefender or Kaspersky, and keep it active until support ends around 2020. Even after that, you can run a VM on Ubuntu or Windows 10 to stay updated and secure.

I don’t really like Windows 10 and won’t switch soon. If you’re okay with a bit more effort after support ends, go for it. But if you prefer simplicity, stick with Windows 7.
