I’m trying to switch the installation folder to "G:\.minecraft" but the launcher always prompts for download and play in the original location. It seems to prefer the default setup. Consider moving the downloaded file to your G: drive and see if that resolves the issue.
Navigate to edit your profile, locate the check mark for Game Directory, and you’ll have access to modify the games directory.
