I set up my laptop in factory mode because it was too messy. I created a 100GB partition for Steam and added it to its library folders. When installing a game, I expected it to prompt where to install, but it just chose the C drive by default. I need guidance on how to change the default settings.

When you download a game, it typically doesn't prompt for installation details.

Look for the Steam client installation folder in the C drive, then remove that file. Check the S drive for a different default location.

It doesn't seem to work. The warning about "cannot remove default library" suggests an issue, so I'm attempting a fresh reinstall of Steam.

Please attempt reinstalling. It seems Steam keeps prompting for installation location even without additional libraries.

Found it, it requires manually relocating steam... Log out and close Steam. Go to the directory where Steam is set up (usually: C:\Program Files\Steam\). Remove everything except SteamApps and Steam.exe. Copy your Steam folder to a new place, like D:\Games\Steam\. Launch Steam. It will refresh briefly and you’ll be ready to play. All future game content will go to the new folder.
