Update StoreMI to version 2.0 using WSL.
I'm planning a Ryzen 5000 build and choosing my storage setup. I'm considering: - 1TB NVME SSD for boot, non-game apps, and folders - 500GB NVME SSD for SSD caching of the HDD via StoreMI 2.0 - 4TB HDD for games, data, movies, photos. Most projects will stay on the hard drive, and I'll mainly work in WSL. Will using StoreMI still help with file reads/writes on my HDD inside WSL?
That is a great question. I don't know. What I do know, is files related to WSL should be manipulated inside WSL itself or via Network drive map. (This is why "Linux" was added on the navigation pane, which is really network map drive done for you). Accessing WSL file from the outside (read is fine, but writing is the issue), will corrupt these files from working under WSL. So, unless there is a Linux version of StoreMi, I don't think it will work for you. It might end up breaking everything (unless it support network folders, in which you need to set it up to do it's stuff through it) By default, WSL is in your C:\ drive.
I believe using WSL in C:\ works well for your situation. I regularly use WSL and it’s the only drive I have—this 250GB SSD is mine, not my gaming PC, which means there’s no game interference.
