Update speed in video games.
I don't use it at all. I plan to experiment with it for a while before adjusting the refresh rate back to 60, hoping it will help me notice any changes.
My display can only reach up to 60 frames per second, so the game I usually play at 300+ fps won’t run smoothly. My monitor is set to 76, but I’m not sure if it’s actually showing that speed. The FPS meters don’t reflect the game’s refresh rate, which might still be 60—especially for BF.
Check if you use an NVIDIA device. Adjust the preferred refresh rate to the highest setting on the NVIDIA control panel. Right-click your desktop, select "Change resolution," then navigate to advanced settings. Click the monitor tab and verify the refresh rate is set correctly in the dropdown menu. On my screen, I can access OS settings via the OSD and view the current refresh rate.
You're questioning whether the benefits of a higher refresh rate justify the cost of a 120 or 144Hz monitor. It seems like the extra 16fps won't make much difference, and risking damage to the display for that gain isn't worth it. If you're already using a 100Hz or faster, it might be better to stick with it.
I never mentioned needing a higher refresh rate—I just want it. With 250 euros not on hand, I might buy one soon or in the future. Boosting the monitor’s speed is completely free, and there’s no evidence anyone has ruined their display by raising the refresh rate. The only real issue I’ve seen is occasional frame drops, which I’ve already dismissed.
