I typically refresh every 1 to 2 weeks when possible to prevent major overhauls, but updates can still pile up frequently. How often do you change things just because you're curious?

As a desktop user, it doesn't really matter. I've grown tired of the updates and switched to another method for my desktop. For my servers, it happens about once a month, just like with Windows.
