I’m starting this build for the first time and my motherboard requires a BIOS update, but it won’t boot or power on. I’m unsure if I should boot into BIOS to apply the update or not, given the specs—CPU 13900K, GPU Zotac 3080, motherboard MSI PRO Z690, Corsair RM 1000X CPU cooler, and MSI Core Liquid S360.

Without a BIOS flash button on the motherboard, you’ll need a compatible CPU to update the BIOS. The simplest option is borrowing someone’s CPU, purchasing an affordable supported model, and returning it after the update, or taking it back to the original store for a refresh.

The board supports BIOS flashback, allowing updates even without a matching CPU. Detailed steps are provided in the motherboard manual.
