Update of the firmware caused the PC to become unresponsive.
Hello, yesterday I applied a Dell Firmware Update, thinking it was just a Windows Update, but today my laptop froze repeatedly—stopped responding and I had to power it off manually. This issue didn’t occur before. I checked the Device Manager, selected the Firmware section, and chose 'Roll back driver.' Was that a good move? Or should I be cautious? This is the Dell Vostro 3405 running Windows 11. Please share any additional details if you can, and thank you ahead for your help.
Check the newest BIOS updates from Dell here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-hr/...op/drivers. You can also use IOBit Driver Booster for driver upgrades.
It seems the newest BIOS update might have been the reason your PC froze several times. Just let me know and I’ll install it for you.
A bios and a driver serve different purposes. You cannot revert a bios using Device Manager; this method doesn't function.
Dell offers its own tool named Dell Command Update. It’s recommended that users of Dell products utilize this instead of third-party programs. You can’t revert BIOS firmware via Windows Device Manager—it isn’t possible. Updates must be applied by flashing the BIOS directly through Windows (download from Dell site) or using a USB drive with the firmware. Avoid updating firmware or BIOS through Windows Update, as it may lead to compatibility problems. Relying on official Dell drivers from their website ensures greater stability and reliability. Please install Dell Command Update and attempt an update if needed.
Focus on the software update instead of BIOS changes. Verify your hard drive condition with a monitoring tool. Run a system health check via Sfc /scannow. Review your Windows version, updates, and drivers for any issues.
