To upgrade to the 5800X3D, I had to update the BIOS, which I hadn’t done yet, weighing risks against benefits. I tried flashing to v25, then to v31 (needed for newer versions). Using the Gigabyte EC FW tool helped ensure dual-channel RAM worked with the latest BIOS. After that, I updated to v51, the current recommended version. The problem arose when flashing to v51; the screen went blank instead of turning off, showing only black. It’s possible my machine uses a stable PSU, so power interruptions didn’t occur. Others shared similar issues with NVME boot drives or RAM incompatibility. I changed the monitor port, removed the NVME drive, booted from a Windows repair disk, cleared RAM sticks, and even reset CMOS—none worked. Some suggested reverting BIOS versions, but without clear instructions for this specific board, I’m unsure. I see the 5800X3D supports v51g to current, so rolling back might help. If that’s possible, it could fix the glitch. Alternatively, I might need a different motherboard, like a b550M, to avoid further complications.

Have you already set up the 5800x3d? It's possible the latest BIOS removed compatibility with the 1400 model.

That's a thoughtful suggestion, something I hadn't thought about before. I'll explore it further. I haven't even removed the 5800X3D yet, since things have gone wrong enough already—I'm playing it safe now. Thanks for offering another chance, and I'm hoping it helps.

The guide indicates no changes were removed, though I attempted it without results. Your effort brought some optimism.
