You're considering upgrading your PC without breaking the bank. The ASUS P7P55D-E offers some improvements, especially with its faster components compared to the older parts you're using. It could help extend the life of your system and keep it running smoothly. However, whether it's worth it depends on your specific needs and budget. If you're looking for a solid upgrade rather than a full replacement, this might be a good middle ground.

Avoid swapping an outdated motherboard on a fully inactive system; focus on planning a more substantial upgrade instead.

There’s no need for anything extra that won’t improve your setup. The motherboard doesn’t affect performance. I recommend waiting until you have a solid budget before upgrading. This machine uses technology from about a decade ago and is already near its maximum capabilities on the market.

Have you already boosted your CPU performance? The difference between H55 and P55 boards isn’t significant, and the additional RAM slots on the P7P55D-E don’t seem worth the cost. Since you already have one of the top CPUs for this setup, it’s best to overclock it now and continue saving for a better platform.

The system I'm using restricts overclocking, as key components are fixed and any changes lead to instability.

Based on my research, it should support overclocking, though the process differs from today’s systems due to the CPU being locked with a multiplier. A guide for H55/P55 is available, even if you can’t locate identical settings on your board. Key adjustments include BCLK frequency and core voltage.
