I chose Pro because it let me schedule delays for updates, but that feature appears to be gone now. Only a single delay option remains, which you must reset repeatedly.

Yes, windows 10 2004 update did that. Apparently there is a way to stop updates from happening in the group policy editor that is a part of the pro version, but i'll stay on 1909 until i get some more confirmation.

To be frank, good. Allowing users to skip installing security updates is dangerous. Windows 10 no longer automatically restarts after an update, there's no good reason to not do updates in the background and ask the user to restart when they can. Its not like Windows would install updates while the user is doing anything heavy anyway.

Feature and quality improvements are handled separately. Each update includes 18 months of stability enhancements, ensuring you never miss security fixes. My setup automatically applies quality and security patches immediately. While unstable feature updates (like those in 2004) are scheduled 180 days later once bugs are resolved, this isn’t a default setting. Pro users can manage their preferences since they understand the process. The Windows Business version retains these features, which explains why the Pro version loses them.

The delay in major updates comes down to ms frequently releasing faulty updates that lead to significant issues. I also have too many other tasks to manage, so I need to avoid worrying about ms disrupting my system.

It’s fine usually, but I’ve had Windows updates break software in the past. If you know it will, it’s nice to be able to put it off until a patch comes out for the software.
