Update auto-games for a particular network.
Additional details required.
Regular switching between wired and wireless networks in various locations?
Wi-Fi benefits include quicker and more stable downloads/updates.
Mostly a background script is needed to track network status and manage updates:
Enable Auto-update when connected wirelessly, provided it’s on the home network.
You’ll also require extra scripts to define which game sites and games are allowed for auto-updates.
This setup could become very complicated, with many minor adjustments risking update failures.
What specific update issues are prompting this need?
Hi, thank you very much for your reply and for your patience with the delay.
Your first observation is accurate—I usually connect to different networks, so I prefer auto-updates only for my home network (both wired and wireless). Since I often use public Wi-Fi or my mobile hotspot, I don’t want updates to function there.
Right now, the abundance of launchers on PCs makes manual updates tedious, especially when big updates are pending.
I considered creating a script, but I’m more comfortable with hardware than software, and dealing with the DRM methods used by distributors feels very challenging.
For now, I’ve transferred all games to my external SSD, which helps me avoid the temptation to play constantly. I still launch all launchers whenever I’m home and the SSD is connected. It’s a bit of a primitive solution, but it works for me 😁.
No problem.
Nothing wrong with a "caveman" solution. If it is simple and it works then just stay with it.
The more direct/manual control that you have the better.
