Upcoming Cisco certifications are on the horizon.
Hey everyone, I'm thinking about purchasing the Cisco CCNA 200-125. But what if a more recent exam comes out soon? The current version was released on August 5, 2016... and it seems like it's getting closer to 2019. How can I find out if a newer version is coming up? I haven't found any details anywhere. I just don't want to buy the 2016 version when a new one drops in January 2019. I believe CompTIA usually updates their certifications regularly, except for IT Fundamentals and A+, which might be the only exceptions. According to what I've heard, Cisco is planning a newer IT Fundamentals exam for August 2018 and an updated A+ for February 2019. So, should I wait or act now?
They maintain prior evaluations for approximately six months after introducing a new one.
I just don’t want to spend money on a book that becomes outdated in three months, forcing me to buy a newer version with unknown updates.
For the 200-125 exam, changes are usually minor—just shifting topics between CCNA and CCNE. I’d likely add a couple of new features, like enhanced security protocols or AI-driven troubleshooting tools. But overall, about 95% of the content stays relevant because it focuses on core networking fundamentals that never change.
