Hello! As mentioned in the title, my 7800x3D model rarely drops below 49-50°C when idle. Under heavy usage—like running Prime95 or Cinebench—it quickly climbs to over 89°C, never falling below 83°C, which triggers thermal throttling on the CPU. During gaming, temperatures stay in the high 70s.

I’ve tried several solutions: repositioning the AIO cooler’s block multiple times, switching to a different model entirely, and even cleaning the IHS and pump block with a specific cleaning solution. I also reset CMOS, updated BIOS, and used Windows MCT to install fresh Windows 11 after each attempt. After installing OS and drivers, I’d run my most frequently used apps—primarily Discord, Fan Control, and HWiNFO—while keeping the system idle for about 10 minutes post-cleaning in a dust-free environment.

I’m using around 65 watts during full load tests (Cinebench R23 Multi-Core), but my average score stays around 17200 or lower, rarely exceeding that by more than 100 points. I’m open to advice on diagnosing and fixing these issues. Thanks very much!

This isn't unusual, it's typical for AM5.

I operate an Aircooler (NH-D15) with a steady fan speed at 30% until it hits 93°C, then switches to 100% for higher temps. It rarely reaches those levels during gaming, keeping things quiet. You might adjust your AIO pump speed to a fixed 70% for smoother performance and set the pump and fans in BIOS. Radiator fans can run at full speed when needed without causing noise, then ramp up to 100% at 93°C for extra cooling.

My 7800x3D runs at a low -20 Curve Optimizer, hovering near 40°C and spiking to about 82°C during Cinebench. It's air-cooled with an Assassin IV. I believe it was pre-undervolted around 85°C before that. The system is completely quiet now.
