Unusual vertical lines showing up at the bottom of your second screen following a normal reboot.
I’m uncertain whether the issue lies with hardware or software. Some unusual horizontal lines now appear at the bottom of my second monitor. Touching the area with the mouse triggers strange ghosting or streaks, leaving behind white or colored pixels. The problem appears only when the system starts up and disappears after a few minutes. After updating the GPU driver, it began, then another driver update didn’t fix it.
System details: Intel Core i7 12700K, RTX 3070Ti, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR5 board, MSI A850GF 80 Plus Gold power supply, Windows 11 Enterprise 64-bit. The monitor is a ViewSonic XG2705 1080p 144Hz display connected via displayport, which I’ve owned for about two years.
Tried: re-seating the cable, restarting PC (disappears after minutes), updating GPU drivers with a clean install. Since it seems to vanish after a short time, should I worry about the monitor or GPU? Could the cable be faulty? Any advice would be appreciated.
EDIT: This doesn’t occur on the main monitor either. I’ve swapped cables between them and changed DisplayPort ports on the GPU, but nothing worked. This suggests the monitor might be the issue. The Problem.mp4 – edited Jan 31, 2024 by audhaum
Your monitor and GPU are working properly. Someone introduced an error message in the driver. Switching back to the older driver should resolve it. If that's not possible due to needing the latest version, accept it until someone provides a solution. In the meantime...
Hi! I followed your recommendation and reinstalled the drivers I previously had. Unfortunately, that didn’t fix the problem. My current idea is that my monitor has a bad displayport port, and even moving it causes issues. Repair shops in my area don’t handle displayport repairs, and my monitor is past its warranty. I’ve attached a photo of the solution you mentioned for your reference. Regarding your request, I’m looking for an affordable, height-adjustable monitor with 1440p resolution and 144Hz refresh rate in a curved design.
