I've been using a ThinkBook 15 for my work computer for years, and it often stops responding when too much of my finger touches the trackpad. I initially assumed it was a hardware issue but didn’t prioritize fixing it since I rely heavily on a mouse. When upgrading to a new laptop, my boss chose version 4, and the same problem persists with all models now. It comes out of the box with a standard Microsoft driver, leaving no customizable settings. At first, I thought it was similar to Palm rejection, so I looked up solutions—either adjusting the driver or changing AAPThreshold in the registry. Unfortunately, these fixes didn’t work. The issue remains consistent across Windows 10 and 11. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’d buy a wireless mouse and disable the touch pad. But isn’t that just my choice?

That’s how I handle it, but it doesn’t assist the other three folks using the same laptop and issue. It feels like a temporary fix rather than a real answer.

Good luck, I’m sure it will work out. It can definitely be annoying.

Gestures are involved. Placing four fingers on the trackpad and moving left or right lets you switch your desktop. Three fingers mimic opening windows like Alt+Tab. The palm rejection feature works best when typing and then switching the trackpad, which can be tricky during gaming since both inputs overlap.

wouldn't movements require more than one finger? You mentioned using just the tip for smooth operation, but when you use the whole finger pad or press the side of your hand, it doesn't work. This suggests a possible issue with palm recognition.

Since I realize the topic might not be immediately obvious, I've shared a video demonstrating it.

It doesn't seem to work for you either, probably because the area you touched is too large.
