You're experiencing some odd behavior with GTA 5. It seems the game's performance dips when Vsync is off and then improves when it's enabled again. This pattern is unusual. Have you noticed similar issues with others? Could be related to system settings, graphics drivers, or resource management. Your hardware specs look solid—good setup for the game!

I experience an unusual stutter while gaming. I'm using a GTX 980 with overclocking enabled and G-sync active. Checking my performance graphs in afterburner shows the GPU usage and core MHz fluctuating and resetting unpredictably. FPS fluctuates between 70-80 and then drops to 35 before recovering. Sometimes it happens intensely, other times it lasts for hours.

It doesn't occur often, but it stutters when using 760 and 290. I just switch Vsync whenever it happens.

It's nice to hear you're not alone with this problem. You mentioned getting your second GPU (third overall) for a GTX 970 and successfully setting it up with SLI. The issue seems to be that performance dips below 60 fps often, especially when frames drop. Your usage data suggests both GPUs were at full capacity during smooth runs, but usage fell to about 40% during drops. This could indicate a bottleneck or insufficient power supply. You have an i5 4690K and a 750W PSU, which should handle the load, but past experiences show inconsistencies. Consider checking your PSU's wattage rating and ensure it matches your system needs.

Are you running Vsync? Then the frames will slow down to 30fps, leading to stutter and reduced GPU activity since 970fps is manageable without issues.

I consistently enable Vsync. My frame rate stays above 45, which suggests it might not be the issue.

GTA V's VSync uses triple buffering which prevents noticeable frame rate drops.
