Hello. I'm facing unusual issues with my system and don't understand the root cause, as these symptoms have never occurred before. In March 2023, I upgraded my hardware: CPU: i9-13000KF MOBO: ASROCK Z790 Riptide PG (BIOS v8.01). GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC LHR 10GB GDDR6X RAM: Ripjaws S5, DDR5 (2x16), 6000MHz, CL36 (F5-6000J3636F16GX2-RS5K). PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX 3.0 Sound Blaster AE5 Plus. I have several SSDs—two MVE Samsung 980 EVO 500GB (system) and two 2TB units. After installation, my system booted under Ryzen 3900. Initially, RAM usage above 50% caused crashes. After a fresh install, the problem persisted until June. As a software developer using Visual Studio, I noticed frequent crashes in June: during GIT tasks, typing, SpecFlow, debugging, and even browsers (Edge, Chrome, Brave, Firefox) would crash unexpectedly. Refreshing didn't help.

I tried Windows Cleaner, which found missing framework files, but Windows Defender started failing to launch unless I restarted. Memtest86 showed no errors, yet LYNX with full memory usage (27GB) ran without issues. Installation of NVIDIA packages failed repeatedly, and after a restart, it worked. However, browsers still crashed. I could install GeForce Experience and update drivers from there.

Switching to Windows 11 didn't resolve the crashes—Windows Defender still failed, while Visual Studio and browsers remained unstable. I removed one RAM stick (16GB) for testing; it was stable but not rock-solid. Visual Studio would crash during GIT operations or compilation errors, especially with NodeJS.exe. Chrome didn't crash entirely, but sometimes it did when I left the PC on overnight. Running Visual Studio and Vegas Pro together with limited RAM (1-2GB) caused frequent crashes.

When I bought a 16GB RAM stick from GoodRam, the situation improved slightly, resembling what I got with RIPJOWS. Still, crashes remained. There are no BSODs during normal use, only specific application failures. For gaming, I'm uncertain if performance dropped significantly, though recent game updates like World of Tanks (patch 1.21) and Aliens: Dark Descent caused problems. Jagged Alliance 3 had crashes mainly at night with rain. The Event Viewer logs additional crashing DLLs—such as ntdll.dll, Kernel32.dll, git2-msvstfs.DLL, VBCSCompiler.exe, and Microsoft.Remoting.RemoteContainer.dll. All errors point to 0xc0000005.

Consider testing your RAM without XMP to observe any changes. XMP functions as an overclock and may not reliably improve stability across all devices.

Do you have an alternative storage drive available? A failing SSD might be responsible for unusual, unpredictable actions.

Sorry, I don’t have a backup drive available. I’d need to purchase a new one. According to ClearDiskInfo, I purchased this storage device in 2019. My main drive is only about 66% used, and it hasn’t received any installation yet.

I've successfully set up Windows on a separate drive, but the problem persists. Test scenario: I launch Vegas Pro 20 and run a project. Then open Visual Studio 2019. Visual Studio either crashes when loading or during actions like recompile. Interestingly, I've just seen the first BSOD related to "Windows IRQL_LESS_OR_EQUAL" during this process. With 32GB of storage, I have about 16GB available, which Windows claims as free memory but is actually buffered. So I can probably exclude a bad drive. Still unsure if it's related to RAM or the motherboard.

Replace the CPU pin check and reinstall Windows once more. The issue seems to be with Windows, not your RAM. Your hard drive appears to be in good condition.

I took extra steps and purchased a Gigabyte Aourus Elite AX. The issue started after some changes. At first, everything worked fine—PC booted normally and Windows loaded correctly. When I turned on XMP PC boot, Windows still loaded properly, but a BSOD appeared after a few minutes during login. The system restarted to the default settings, updated the BIOS, yet it displayed a black screen with no response from the keyboard. All self-repair tools failed—SFC and restore options didn’t help. Later, I attempted a fresh Windows 11 installation. It encountered a 0xc0000005 error in several areas, such as preparing Windows files, running the installer, and experiencing multiple BSODs after finishing the setup. Once I got back to Windows, it would repeatedly create accounts and prepare for the first run, even on the simplest configuration. The setup used only one drive, a new NVMe drive was added, but I had either 32GB of G.Skill RAM or a single stick from G.Skill or GoodRam. This raises concerns—could my CPU be damaged? Or is the Gigabyte MOBO faulty?
