I recently refurbished my computer using just an old case and a few SSDs. It tends to crash unexpectedly, especially after prolonged use. The only steady pattern is increased crashes over time. When it powers off after a crash, Windows Event Viewer displays Error 41 (Kernel-Power). To get it back on, I sometimes need to switch the power supply off. The EZ Debug LED often lights up, indicating a CPU error, though I’m not sure if the CPU itself is the issue. There are no visible signs of overheating or warnings, and I haven’t noticed any errors. I’ve observed it tends to fail when a different DP cable is connected to the GPU, but it also crashed when using a USB. Through testing, I discovered gently pressing on the GPU can cause the system to shut down. I’ve checked all cables, unplugged and replugged them, performed a fresh OS install, changed wall outlets, even tried my old 1080 model (it didn’t work). I’m unsure what’s causing this and it’s frustrating given the investment I made. My thoughts are: 1) Faulty PSU 2) Faulty motherboard 3) Faulty GPU 4) Case short somewhere? 5) Problematic cable with the 4080 PCIe power adapter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! PC specifications: Intel Core i7-13700K, MSI Z790 EDGE WIFI (MS-7D91, Corsair DDD4, 16GB x2, 6000Mhz), PSU with ~5 SSDs, including two 1080 monitors (5520x1440p).

Did you reuse any old power cables from the PSU and replace them with a new one? Make sure only the cables that came with the PSU are used. Can you insert the 4080 into the bottom PCIe slot to verify stable booting? Also, reset the CMOS and check the BIOS settings. Confirm the cable fits properly into the 4080, ensuring the power is secure and the pins aren’t misaligned.
