Unusual system failures in software after hardware changes New equipment setup leads to strange game crashes
Activated debug mode in the NVIDIA control panel and ran a game (Tower Unite) that frequently crashed for about two hours before it stopped, displaying a blue screen with error code SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. It seems the game’s specific map is unstable, as I’ve experienced crashes there before. I’ve included a zip file with the crash dump and blue screen files. This time there was no strong static noise. It seems similar to memory problems, but the GPU timing issues might not be linked. You might want to run the PC normally with one drive at a time to check.
Virtual memory might be the issue. Observing that disabling GPU acceleration or switching the ANGLE backend to OpenGL resolves the problem suggests it plays a role.
It doesn't clarify the matter and it seems improbable it relates to the page file.
It seems the game failed shortly after launch, likely due to compatibility issues with the system. The crash report is available here: https://pastebin.com/C0M3pfvv
I've observed that during gameplay in Far Cry 4, the GPU utilization and voltage appear consistently low, with temperatures rarely exceeding 39°C. There were instances where GPU usage and voltage increased from around 60 volts to 90 volts before dropping shortly before the system crashed, which might suggest a power-related problem.
