I just configured a new PC. It’s slow to transfer data between the old and new machines—about 2 MB per second. Moving files from a NAS is much faster, around 100 MB per second. Both systems use Windows 10. Since the NAS is free software, here are some troubleshooting ideas. Thanks, Jo.
Verify your cables and ensure they support at least CAT5e. Then examine the connectivity type on your home router or switch. If you're using wireless, distance might affect performance. On your new PC, check network stats via Task Manager to understand bandwidth usage. More context would help clarify the issue.
Everything uses Ethernet cables—1Gbit speeds, I swapped the cable. Both connections sit on the same switch... does the router still function? - additional tests: the new PC encounters the same issue with all Windows setups... GameFirst v. It seems the system automatically limits file transfer traffic, even at normal priority (2MB/S is way too low). Thanks... this demonstrates the point. Installing everything out of the box was never a good plan, but these semi-intelligent tools can really fall short when they lack sufficient intelligence.
