I'm not familiar with fixing throttling issues, and I'm unsure about handling this situation. I purchased a Lenovo desktop mainly for playing Minecraft. It's throttling around 60°C, which seems excessive. Checking ThrottleStop didn't show core or power reaching limits. Have anyone experienced similar problems? Also, did you update the BIOS recently?
Have you explored the BD PROCHOT option? They often restrict temperature throttling to a minimal setting, though I’ve experienced this issue with a Lenovo device where it reduced performance at 50% battery.
Start by accessing the Limits area, which displays colored indicators for each platform constraint (CPU, iGPU, ring). Yellow signifies a previous hit during the session, while red indicates the current restriction. This helps determine if you're experiencing thermal throttling or another limitation.
The initial inspection showed the component working properly. I attempted to bypass it, but results remained consistent. Yellow indicators appeared briefly before vanishing. Under the Ring and Core settings, it appears to be displaying "EDP Current."
Is this normal behavior or something unusual? It seems strange that the board turns black after turning yellow—no clear reason comes to mind. The EDP Current suggests the VRMs are restricting power to the ring, which is also known as the uncore (cache, I/O bus, etc.). That doesn’t seem right since the ring shouldn’t draw much power. It might just be a false alarm.

I'm monitoring for throttling by observing specific signs. The issue seems to stem from performance drops without hitting any single component at maximum usage. To track this, keep an eye on clock speeds, temperatures, power consumption, and both CPU and GPU activity using tools like Afterburner, which can log these metrics over time. Running balanced synthetic tests that mimic gaming conditions would also provide clearer insights into load limits and help boost performance in Minecraft.
In the game or when idle, the system freezes for 1-3 seconds and temperatures drop. This occurs when the temperature exceeds 60°C, and I haven’t been able to raise the temps above 66°C. I’m open to synthetic tests or a series of trials—I just don’t know where to start. Honestly, this machine is a 4570 with an iGPU, so running other games isn’t feasible.
