I want to start by noting I already had Windows boot up and everything seems normal now. The challenge: old SSD wouldn’t start on my new AsRock B650 Livemixer with Ryzen 5 7600X. Even with CSM enabled, nothing changed—just a black screen appeared. I tried several power cycles (sometimes it takes a few attempts) but nothing worked. No BIOS settings like EFI mode or legacy mode were adjustable. I experimented with different boot options and combinations, but my fix came from changing the SSD format. I used the ssd2gpt tool, which failed because it couldn’t locate any OS partitions on disk 0. Then I discovered the recovery partition was missing, causing validation errors. I ran a BCDedit command to remove that specific check, allowing the conversion to proceed successfully. I also rebuilt the recovery partition by using a Windows installation ISO and mounting it to replace the missing WinRE WIM file (copied from the media and placed in the same folder on CSmile. After all this, the SSD booted smoothly onto the new RAM and CPU, performing better than before, while keeping my original Windows 10 files intact. Was there anything I overlooked or could have done differently before this situation arose? I tried other approaches and combinations without success before reaching this solution. I’m glad I learned a lot and got out of my comfort zone, but I was hoping to find some resolution.
