Unusual restart problems then reduced game speed across most titles
Yesterday I powered on my PC and it functioned properly at first. After a short while, the display went dark and the system restarted automatically. This occurred multiple times within an hour. During these interruptions, the machine slowed down noticeably, and even media like YouTube would stutter. After the fifth reboot, I decided to power it off and restart later. The next time I tried it that evening, the rebooting problem didn’t repeat, and everything worked normally. However, I observed a major decline in performance, especially during games. For example, in Elden Ring the frame rate dropped from 60 FPS to under 40, and similar issues appeared in Resident Evil 4 and God of War. While monitoring my system with MSI Afterburner, my GPU temperature stayed around 60-65°C in demanding titles, and the CPU around 70-80°C. RAM usage fluctuated but generally stayed between 10-14 GB. I attempted driver updates, Windows updates, and verified settings weren’t reset, among other troubleshooting steps, but nothing resolved the issue. My hardware specs are: GPU RTX 3050, CPU i3-9100F, 2x8GB RAM at 2400 MHz, PSU XPG Core Reactor 650W Gold, motherboard Gigabyte H310M, OS Windows 11. Thank you in advance!
Verify your XMP settings haven't been cleared. BIOS may revert to default configurations during a crash. Consider upgrading your CPU—9700 is around $100—and install a $30 cooler; it’ll perform better. RAM should aim for 3600 speeds, and 16GB DIMMs are now affordable.
