I've experienced this unusual ping issue in CSGO for roughly two to three months now. When connecting to MM/DM/Casual servers, the ping hovers around 25-30, whereas with my 100/100 fiber connection, normal server pings are 8-13. The odd part is that I can maintain this low ping by quickly switching tabs or pressing ESC, which opens a menu and briefly increases latency before the ping returns to normal. I've tried nearly every solution online—from network drivers and disabling audio drivers to registry tweaks, changing my ISP and router, managing background services, reinstalling Windows, and testing various OS versions. Despite these efforts, I still have no clear answer and it's becoming increasingly frustrating. My system specs are i7-4790, GTX960, 8GB RAM, Windows 10, wired connection. It seems like a sudden change without any hardware modifications caused this problem.

It's typical for my response time to increase when I tab out and drop to around 120ms, then gradually return to about 30ms or lower as the connection stabilizes. However, the reported ping values seem inconsistent with what network tools show. Updated May 17, 2016 by Mr.Meerkat – wording improved Big Grin

Does the connection slow down or feel stiff when your ping is between 25-30? If not, you're good to go—thank you for the great service from your ISP! Your typical CSGO ping is around 150-180ms, depending on region and game type. When you close the game and check again, the ping will vary slightly before settling back.

It seems like the connection issues are occasional. I notice ping changes when switching tabs with alt+tabbed, which is normal. However, it's still unusual when the ping remains high until I switch focus away by pressing ESC and opening the menu. After that, it returns to a stable level before increasing again. This pattern hasn't happened consistently, but it seems to have started after something specific. Thanks!
