After a recent W10 upgrade roughly one to two months ago, I've encountered an unusual time/date problem. When the PC is powered off, the clock doesn't seem to advance properly. For instance, if I shut it down at 20:00 on July 16, 2017, turning it back on the next morning only shows 20:01. The date and time settings are set to auto, but they don<|pad|>, so I have to manually switch them on and off for the system to refresh. I've also tried disabling auto time, but the issue persists. It's strange and can happen unexpectedly, sometimes causing confusion when I wake up early and see the time in the afternoon. It's not a major problem, but it can be unsettling.

It might be a CMOS battery.

It seems the issue only appeared after a fresh Windows 10 installation. It would be odd if the battery failed at the same time, right?

Try changing the BIOS battery, observe the effect. I haven't noticed such problems before; my system usually lags about an hour until auto time resets. It might be connected to daylight saving adjustments, especially with summer time changes. I'm not experiencing this in Linux, so it could be a Windows issue affecting how it handles time savings.
