Unusual problem with the internet connection.
Unusual problem with the internet connection.
I've recently switched to Three 5G Home Broadband. My setup is currently downstairs, which only provides LTE-A speeds, but I'm still seeing 220/25. Once installed in the loft, I expect around 600/100 if 5G performance on my phone holds up. On WiFi, I experience full speeds with SteamDeck, OnePlus Nord 5G, and one of my laptops—170/15, though it usually lags due to weak signal. My HP OMEN laptop is lagging, staying under 60 Mbps whether connected via WiFi or Ethernet, even with a USB Wi-Fi adapter that works well on another device. I've disabled any VPNs. When reconnecting to my Virgin Media router, I receive the full 200/20 I pay for. Could there be an issue with the new router? The HP includes an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 chip, which seems solid, but it might be the updated router that's causing the problem.
With wireless connections please inform us of the specific router/AP models, how much devices are connected regularly and the distances used. Also you could share some more specs to make it easier to help you. 1k posts, you should know better...
Sorry, I rarely seek assistance on these topics. The router is a brand new Three-branded Zyxel NR5103E 5G device, currently supporting two Wi-Fi connections—my HP Omen laptop and a Oneplus Nord 5G. Both run Windows 11. I'm positioned about two meters away from the router. I've tested both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands; 2.4 offers roughly 27/11 Mbps, while 5 GHz delivers around 60/15 Mbps using the internal adapter (Intel AX200) and a TP-Link Archer T2U. When swapping the Archer T2U to another laptop, speeds match the internal adapter. Interestingly, even with Gigabit Ethernet, I don't notice any improvement.
