My machine is experiencing time discrepancies, and it’s unclear where to look for a fix. I’m using a desktop Amd 5700X with an Asus X570 board, GTX 1660ti graphics, and 32GB RAM, running Windows 11. The time loss occurs while using the computer, though it’s hard to gauge exactly how much is affected. Some of my programs that needed accurate internet synchronization stopped working (differences exceeded a minute). After syncing with a timeserver, the clock advanced roughly four minutes. I’ve confirmed regular time updates, and even forcing a sync at startup or online (compared to weekly checks) doesn’t resolve the issue. Every morning I restart the system after use, making sure it fully powers off—no sleep traps involved. I also notice audio glitches when playing media: pops appear in the sound, and the audio-video alignment breaks (often audio precedes video). I’ve searched for potential resource overloads but haven’t found anything relevant. CPU usage stays between 10–60% (Task Manager graphs show no single core overloaded), speeds hover around 4–4.2GHz, with about 6,960 threads and 21.8GB in use out of 41.4GB total. RAM utilization is at 70%, with no spikes. Two 16GB dimms (3200MHz) are committed; cache is 10.1GB, with 21.8GB used (2.4GB compressed). Disks: five partitions across five disks—two HDDs are 6TB each, one is a backup drive. During backups, both drives run heavily (>50% usage), and the problem persists even without backups. Network connection is gigabit to my router and fiber at 50Mbps; utilization stays low even during backups. GPU: no significant load (graphs show <2% usage). I’m running three 1080p displays at 60Hz, but the system handles them smoothly even with an AMD 3800X. Temperatures are normal—CPU ~40°C, GPU ~43°C. I have a virtual machine (Ubuntu on VirtualBox) plus several memory-intensive apps; the system performs well under load. I’m certain there are no malware infections. Where should I begin to troubleshoot? The impact spans multiple programs. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
