Unusual power problems occurring randomly.
Hey everyone, I’m experiencing some unusual problems. This has been happening for a couple of weeks now, around a year after the PC was built. Occasionally it won’t boot at all—sometimes just a moment, other times it stays frozen for days. The MOBO is running but doesn’t respond when I try to start it or press the boot button. It also resets itself, sometimes shutting down completely and holding the power button, other times it waits for a specific time. The ASUS TUF Gaming B650 Wifi Plus is working, CPU is Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GPU is AMD 7900XTX, RAM is DDR5 with G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo (2x16GB at 6000Mhz), power supply is Seasonic Syncro 750W gold. Any clues would be really helpful.
You can fix issues using extra components or have a friend use their PC to help you check your parts. Begin with the power supply and its connections.
During testing, a paperclip made a clicking sound that wasn’t heard when powering on the PC using the button or shorting the pins. I don’t have access to replacement parts for other components. From what I’ve learned, the most likely issue is with the motherboard. That seems quite plausible.
I initially used an XMP profile, but after many attempts, restarts, and clearing CMOS it returned to the default setting. Right now I can't power on the computer at all. The PSU appears to be functioning properly. By the way, I thought Seasonic was a reliable PSU manufacturer? I'm mainly connected to this PSU because of my chassis.
