Unusual performance problems with frame rate.
A few months back a friend gifted me a new graphics card. It performed well once—stable temps and smooth gameplay at high settings. Recently it’s not holding up. Performance dropped significantly; I now need 1600x900 with medium settings to hit even 30–60 FPS. It could be the card itself or the recent Tough Break update for TF2. I’m checking if there’s a way to confirm and possibly fix the issue. My CPU is an AMD FX-6300 Six-Core at 3.52GHz, with 8 GB RAM. Updated Dec 21, 2015 by Godlygamer23
The latest patch for TF2 and CS:GO hasn't been performing well lately, with optimization issues becoming more frequent.
What GPU do you have? Are there signs of overheating? Also, have you checked or installed the latest drivers?
My GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series. There hasn’t been a significant rise in temperature while playing games. No driver updates have been released recently.
Checked for similar issues in other titles too. Share your graphics and CPU temps during stress tests such as Prime and Valley. Update the GPU drivers to ensure you're using the latest version. We'll identify the cause together, one step at a time.
Download and set up the crimson edition beta from the link provided. It was released four days ago and serves as the last driver for your GPU during the transition to legacy.
I’d open Task Manager to check for resource-heavy processes while you play and use tools like MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU usage and core frequency. If everything seems normal, I’d run DDU to fully remove and reinstall the drivers. If that fails, I’d reinstall from an older revision and try a newer one.
I used the crimson drivers, and it’s clear I don’t enjoy them at all.
Have you tested this option yet, since others don’t back your GPU? What aspects of it do you find problematic?
