My machine operated smoothly for years, but when placed in a crowded area it lost the Wi-Fi connection (it didn’t have any built-in). I connected it to a local aftermarket 1-meter USB extension cable. It worked for a few days, then I tried using a separate USB adapter. Initially it functioned well, but today I couldn’t detect any Wi-Fi signal at all. I removed the Wi-Fi adapter and the computer displayed a black screen. After restarting, only a white blinking cursor appeared—no progress. I restarted again, but there was no display.
Here’s what I did:
- Disconnected all motherboard connections except ATX power, CPU power, and PCIe power.
- Reset CMOS.
- Tested each RAM stick individually in all four slots.
- Switched to a different GPU and tried another PSU—still no luck.
Then I discovered a twist: I swapped my Ryzen 1600X for a Ryzen 2700X, which worked fine in another system. I installed the new CPU in my current setup and it booted into BIOS. I suspected the 1600X was faulty. Before deciding, I tried installing it on the same machine from where I had the 2700X, and it functioned properly.
I then changed the CPU back to the original 1600X and again got a boot. This led me to believe the issue might be with the RAM slots or possibly a hardware fault. I attempted to install RAM in other slots to test connectivity, but it didn’t work.
Now I’m still confused—what should I do next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
